Disrupt HR YVR Speakers Announced!

Disrupt HR YVR Speakers Announced!

We are so excited to be hosting Disrupt HR YVR this year! We’ll be taking over Performance Works on March 8, 2017 for a night of community, conversation, and some serious disruption.

In case you aren’t familiar with the event, Disrupt HR is an information exchange designed to energize, inform, and empower people in the HR field. This isn’t your typical HR event though. We’ll be bringing 8 speakers to the stage (+ a surprise guest), who have 5 minutes to share their thoughts about how to move talent thinking forward.

Without further ado, here are our speakers for the evening:

Christina Disler – Founder @ Werklab

A born and raised Vancouverite, Christina is a social being; a connector of sorts. At Western University, her passion for understanding “why humans do the things they do” drew her to Psychology. Her professional career began in her family business, Action BMS, a telecommunications and security integration business which her father had solely grown to 100 employees by the time Christina joined. When widening dysfunctional cracks due to rapid growth exposed themselves, she initiated the development of the businesses HR department, seeking education, mentorship and membership in groups and organizations to equip her with the skills and insight to effectively grow the people side of the business. Upon completing her UBC Organizational Coaching Certificate in 2014, she found a calling in assisting others in reaching their goals and potential.

In early 2016, Christina opened Werklab, a mindful members-only work club designed to offer community and support to small businesses, freelancers, sole proprietors and contractors. Some people call it a coworking space, but she prefers to call it a mindful space to do good work. Through curating its members, Werklab’s intention is to create a safe environment that fosters trust, creating room for vulnerability in everyone’s independent path of growth and allowing the community to grow organically (with the help of our Community Development Manager as the fertilizer).
